I am honored to have been selected by my peers as Director for Region 16. Arabians have been a way of life since childhood fostered by my late mother, Crabbet Arabian breeder, Sandra Lane of Fairlane Farm in South Windsor, CT.  In 2005, I marked the start of my professional training career by establishing Cranberry Knoll Arabians & Sport Horses. I am an active member and competitor throughout the US and Canada with AHA, USEF, USDF & CRAA garnering many US, Canadian and Regional titles. At this time I am VP of CRAA and in the past VP for AHCC. I reside on several AHA committees, Annual Convention Planning, Sport Horse, Dressage & Western Dressage and Amateur.

In addition to my Arabian horse endeavours, I reside on the south shore of MA with my husband John, Australian Shepard’s and menagerie of other farm critters. I have worked for the same international environmental company since 2000. I am based out of the North American corporate headquarters in Boston and work directly for the CEO in the capacity of Executive Assistant and Office Manager.

My name is Julie Dugas and I am the new secretary for Region 16. I am also the secretary for the Connecticut River Arabian Association. I live in Fairhaven, MA with my daughter, one dog and 3 cats. I currently work as a Pricing Administrator Analysis for a global chemical company. I have been showing Arabians for many years and have gone to numerous Nationals and Region 16 shows,  My daughter shows with me and we can’t wait to get back to showing again and seeing all the friendly faces again.

Our family has  shown, bred, and raised Arabian and Half Arabian Horses for 39 years. I’m married to Debby with two children and we live in Auburn, NY.  on our farm where we currently enjoy our 8 horses. Over the years we have been able to achieve multiple Class A, Regional, AHA Canadian, and AHA National Championships at numerous competitions.

I look forward to helping Cheryl, our Regional Executive Board and its delegates in re-achieving the strong financial foundation that this Region has enjoyed in past years.  With my background of being a club president, Region 16 Director for two 4 year terms,  AHA Vice-President for 4 years and  AHA President for 4 years I have a strong background for serving as Region 16 Treasurer. 

I also currently serve as AHA’s US National Show Commision Chairman which is AHA’s largest income producer.  This experience should allow me to offer valuable advice to our Region 16 Show Committee as well as insight into the show’s profitability.
